For years, energy drinks have gotten a bad rap … but, is it for good reason?
Now, when considering what you put in your body, we don’t think it should be as simple as “bad” or “good.” But, to some extent, there’s a lot of good and bad out there.
With that in mind, let’s dive into the 3 main reasons why energy drinks are considered to be “bad for you.”
1. Too much caffeine.
There are two ways this can happen… Energy drinks themselves often have too much caffeine in a single serving, or due to the cheap caffeine, one serving isn’t enough, which leads to the needs for 2, 3, or 4 servings. Either way, too much caffeine is never considered a good thing, as it can lead to anxiety, insomnia, high blood pressure, and other extreme health conditions.
2. Too much sugar.
This one feels pretty self-explanatory. Sugar is great, but too much of it can be a problem. With that being said, some traditional energy drinks contain up to 60g of sugar per serving…. So yeah, if you’re getting that much sugar from something, it’s probably not the best for you.
3. Artificial ingredients.
Most traditional energy drinks have anywhere from 15-30 ingredients. And if you flip the can around and try to read them, we’d bet you can’t pronounce half of them. These ingredients include artificial sweeteners (aspartame, sucralose, acesulfame potassium), artificial flavors, and preservatives. While many will tell you these ingredients are harmless, there are studies linking these artificial ingredients to long-term side effects such as cancer, cardiovascular disease, and even changes in your DNA. So yeah, we’d consider the intake of these ingredients to be “bad for you.”
So, you might be wondering why we (an energy drink company) are telling you that energy drinks are bad for you???
Well, it’s for this reason that we started Sol Energy. We were sick of all the artificial additives and side effects that come from traditional energy drinks, so we wanted to create one that didn’t have any of that!
And that’s what we’ve done. Created a drink that gives you energy without having to compromise your short- and/or long-term health.
We hope Sol Energy Drinks can be the perfect alternative, so that you can continue doing what you love, with who you love, for longer.
